Marita Gootee, Professor of Art at has taught photography at Mississippi State University since 1986. She received a MFA from Indiana State University in 1985 and a BA from the College of Mount Saint Joseph on the Ohio in 1981. Nationally recognized Art Critics have selected her artwork for the 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2009 Mississippi Invitational Exhibition at the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson that showcases the state’s most significant contemporary artists. Her work was selected for inclusion in the 2008 Women to Watch Invitational at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC. This work is available for exhibition and purchase.
